WELCOME TO
THE NINTH DIVISION

of the South East Region of the National Model Railroad Association

June 2010

I do want to try to get a monthly communication out to the Division.  So, here we are, I hope everyone celebrated a good Father's day, and are looking forward to a good summer.  Perhaps it would be good if it would cool down a little bit for summer!

The website is up and running at http://nscale160.com/9div/.  We haven't had any contact about the website, except for a gentleman complaining that the region website was still carrying a deceased member as leader of several committees.  Come to find out that was with respect to the Sunshine Region!  We've passed on the appropriate information.  However, I would definitely like to know what your interests are, and to offer up the website for your ideas and inputs.

Nominations (either self-nominations or nomination of others) are open for 9th Division officer positions (Super, Vice Super, Secretary, Treasurer) until September 1.  At that point we will generate a formal (postal mailed) newsletter with ballots for an election to be counted by October 1.  For those without email (or have chosen not to provide an email) we have phone numbers for in the roster - except for one member, for whom we at least have a mailing address.  I will ensure that all Division members are contacted prior to September 1.

By the way, if you'd like to verify that your address, phone number, email, etc are up to date with the NMRA, drop me an email or phone and I will let you know what your listing currently is.

The OFRRA group continues to meet on Tuesday nights.  Operating sessions continue to evolve on all three layouts.  For my N Scale Burnt Hills and Big Flats, I have created an Excel based dispatching program (mimicking the popular magnetic panels).  This past weekend I was able to get 10 square feet of scenery up to the basic ground cover and background trees level.  Backdrops are in place, and I put up what layout skirting I had left from Washington State.  This being a bigger layout, I will need to buy more skirting.  Feel free to arrange for a visit if you'd like to see any of the OFRRA layouts, including my own.
